It also just makes me cringe to see idols that are pushing 40 still wearing matching clothes and still answering questions like "who has the most aegyo". Yet in groups if a member dares to do one of these they'll be attacked and be made to feel like they committed a crime. Whoever doesn't like it can just stop being a fan. They can fall in love, publicly interact with the opposite sex, speak however they want, start a family. Sure there's still gonna be some delulu ones but it won't be as insane as when they're part of a group.įor some reason it's also probably easier for artists to live like normal adults when they're no longer part of a group. I feel like the fans that an idol keeps after becoming a soloist or any other type of entertainer, are their real fans who genuinely want the best for them.

It's understandable for the idols to put up with this in their 20s but I feel like they should be allowed to break free after. I mean, they can still be friends if they want and release a special album once every 10 yrs or something.įans are also too possessive and entitled when it comes to groups. Because of all that, it may be difficult for some members to be true artists and find their true interests and artist identities when they're not part of a group. From what they wear, what they can/cannot say, what they sing, even what colour they dye their hair and how much food they eat. Companies are too involved in idol groups. I just think it's better for idols to become soloist or branch out into other entertainment jobs after 30. I know that ageism is already an issue in kpop so I'm sorry in advance I guess? I chose boy groups as a flair cause I mostly listen to them, so for this context I'm referring to boy groups. This will probably be unpopular because I often see people wanting their fav groups to be together forever.
